Hi, I'm Ruth.

From the little girl in Barcelona with 'ants in her pants' who could only be settled with paper and crayons, emerged this (mostly) self-taught artist with the spirit of a pirate, happily rooted in beautifully rich Scotland.

I am always seeking to re-create the bliss I knew as a little girl who was never happier than being up to her elbows in mud or absorbed in creative ventures with plasticine. My scattered overactivity was suddenly transformed into single-pointed attention and creative flow.

Although life kept me away from being an artist, COVID brought with it a change of heart that has reunited me with that little girl again.

A late bloomer with a fascination for nature's creatures, I explore patterns, forms, and textures across different media. Light and colour are my guides – after all, I come from the Mediterranean.

Flying solo isn't always easy, but the freedom to experiment and follow my creative instincts has been a gift. I'm thrilled to share this work with you through Eclectic Blue Studio.
